Translation and Language Training

German and Spanish

About me

I enjoy bridging the gap between German—my native language—and Spanish. My name is Maria Wolf, and I am a translator and language teacher. Thanks to my many years of experience, I have developed a strong linguistic sensitivity and a well-established professional workflow.

In 2012, I moved to Bilbao as a qualified teacher of German as a foreign language. Through teaching in a variety of contexts, I developed expertise in intensive language courses for both companies and private individuals. I enjoy creating supportive, interactive, and sustainable learning environments with a strong focus on motivation and the individual needs of each learner. My teaching approach, shaped by my studies at the Institute for German as a Foreign and Second Language at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, is based on current findings in neuroscience and learning psychology.

In 2015, I also began working as a translator. While translating technical documentation for machinery in the automotive and wood-processing industries, I discovered my passion for the clarity and precision required in technical translation. Since then, I have worked on a wide range of projects. I enjoy engaging with complex subject matter, have a keen interest in technological processes, and feel comfortable working at the intersection between technology and language. I am also very familiar with texts in the fields of politics, economics, and international relations, as well as with terminology related to alpine environments and mountain sports.

During my Master's studies at the Institute for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies at the University of Leipzig, I specialized in translation technologies. I am very familiar with current industry standards, including ISO 17100. I was particularly fascinated by a practical module on software localization. In addition, I specialized in legal translation (civil and criminal law) and gained knowledge in the fields of energy economics, architecture, and construction. I also received training in both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting through several academic courses.

In November 2025, I was authorized by the Regional Court of Erfurt as a sworn translator for the Spanish language for courts, public prosecutors, and notaries.
